This Baked Apple Cinnamon Oatmeal is loaded with tender apples and warm cinnamon, but has no added sweetener, so everyone can sweeten their own serving just the way they like. Best of all, everything is mixed right in the baking dish—no extra mixing bowl and less cleanup! It’s a simple, cozy breakfast that’s perfect for a slow morning or a family breakfast.

I reach for this baked apple cinnamon oatmeal recipe because its simple, delicious, and low-effort. The oven does the work, and you get to sit back and enjoy the morning (even better if you make it ahead of time!) Since there isn’t any added sweetener in the recipe, each person can sweeten their own serving just the way they like it. I like to set out a few topping options for people to choose from– maple syrup, honey, pumpkin seeds, etc. My husband likes yogurt with this sometimes.
This is also an easy recipe to make with younger kiddos who are learning how to chop and measure — not a lot of dishes and not too many ingredients. We have a set of kid-friendly “knives” that my daughter uses to cut fruits and veggies. I love seeing how helping with meal prep has influenced her to be so much more open to eating vegetables. Highly recommend!

Tips for Making Baked Apple Cinnamon Oatmeal
-
- Chop your apples into hearty chunks. The tender apple chunks are so delicious and cozy and really add to the flavor and texture of this baked oatmeal.
-
- One-dish Prep – Mix everything right in your 9×13 baking dish (yay for less dirty dishes!)
-
- Customize! – Apart from the wet:dry ratio, this is not a precision recipe, so feel free to add more or less apple, more or less cranberries, etc. to make it how you like!
-
- Sweeten! – This recipe is unsweetened, allowing you to sweeten you serving how you like. I recommend 100% pure maple syrup, brown sugar, or honey.

Ingredients
2 1/2 c. rolled oats (Organic Sprouted Rolled Oats are my favorite for superior taste and texture!)
3 1/2 c. milk of choice (I use unsweetened vanilla almond milk)
1/2 c. sweetened, dried cranberries
2 honeycrisp apples, chopped into hearty chunks
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1 tsp. cinnamon
a few dashes of nutmeg (optional)
1/3 c. chopped walnuts (optional if you like a crunch)

How to Make Baked Apple Cinnamon Oatmeal
First, preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.
Chop your apples and add them directly into your 9×13 baking dish (My daughter loves helping chop with these kid-friendly “knives”!)

Then, add the rest of the ingredients to the baking dish — the oats, cranberries, milk of choice, cinnamon, vanilla, nutmeg (optional), and walnuts (optional).

Mix everything together well, and pat the top of the mixture so that everything is evenly distributed and level with the almond milk (just don’t want any dry spots!).

Cover your baking dish with foil, and bake for 45 mins or until the milk is fully baked into the oats. Once out of the oven, let rest a few minutes before serving.
Top your oatmeal with whatever sweetener you enjoy! I personally love some 100% real maple syrup.
